Fundamedios has been selected to join the first international cohort of the AI Impact Scaling Program, led by Tech To The Rescue, a global initiative that connects social organizations with technology experts and specialized artificial intelligence capabilities to scale high-impact social solutions.
The program brings together 15 organizations from 10 countries working in areas such as democracy, freedom of expression, health, education, climate, accessibility, and agriculture. The selection process was conducted among more than 80 international applications and prioritized initiatives that already have functional solutions and clearly defined technical challenges that can be strengthened through AI.
In this context, Fundamedios will participate with LIBERTIES 360°, a technological platform developed in partnership with Nodo IA to detect, analyze, and visualize threats against journalists, media outlets, civil society organizations, and fundamental freedoms across Latin America.
For 19 years, Fundamedios has built a democratic protection infrastructure grounded in five strategic capacities: journalist protection, evidence production, legal and psychosocial assistance, journalism strengthening, and national and international advocacy. This infrastructure has enabled responses to attacks, censorship, stigmatization, violence, opacity, and restrictions on civic space across different contexts in the region.
LIBERTIES 360° represents a new stage in this process. The platform combines artificial intelligence, automated monitoring, and human verification to transform large volumes of scattered information into actionable evidence for rights protection and decision-making.
The platform can identify patterns of aggression, visualize risks, detect emerging trends, and issue early warnings regarding threats against journalism and fundamental freedoms. Its purpose is not to replace human or field-based work, but rather to strengthen the monitoring, analysis, and response capacities that Fundamedios has developed over nearly two decades.
As part of the AI Impact Scaling Program, Fundamedios will receive 12 months of specialized technical support, access to infrastructure, and guidance on artificial intelligence, data preparation, cybersecurity, and the responsible development of social impact technologies. In addition, the organization will join an international network of organizations working in diverse contexts while sharing a common goal: expanding the reach and effectiveness of proven solutions.
The organizations selected for this first cohort collectively reach millions of people across different regions of the world through active and verified solutions. The AI Impact Scaling Program aims to amplify that impact through technological partnerships, applied innovation, and artificial intelligence with a strong social impact focus.
With this selection, Fundamedios consolidates a new stage of technological development aimed at strengthening journalist protection, civic space monitoring, and the defense of freedom of expression in Latin America.
