ENGLISH VERSION El 16 de marzo de 2016, el equipo de fútbol Sociedad Deportivo Quito prohibió que reporteros, camarógrafos, o corresponsales de Grupo El Comercio ingresen a las instalaciones en donde entrenan, por considerar que el medio ha realizado publicaciones “tendenciosas, falsas y peyorativas”, que atentan contra el nombre de dicha institución.
A través de una carta pública dirigida al editor de deportes de Grupo El Comercio, Tito Rosales, el equipo de fútbol afirmó que la decisión se tomó después de ver publicadas las notas periodísticas tituladas: “Deportivo Quito se quedó sin sus directivos”; “D. Quito quedó en acefalía y la crisis se agrava”, y “Tres jugadores organizan las colectas en el Deportivo Quito”, del 12, 15 y 16 de marzo, respectivamente. Las notas hacían referencia a los problemas financieros por los que atraviesa el equipo “azul y grana”.
Fundamedios intentó conseguir la versión de El Comercio, pero han preferido no pronunciarse.
Soccer team prohibited a team of reporters of El Comercio from entering to its facilities
On March 16th, 2016, the soccer team Sociedad Deportivo Quito prohibited the entry of reporters, camera operators or correspondents from Grupo El Comercio to the facilities where the team trains since it considers that the media outlet has done “biased, false and pejorative” publications, which undermine the name of the organization.
By an open letter to the sports editor of Grupo El Comercio, Tito Rosales, the soccer team claimed that the decision was made after seeing the articles titled: “Deportivo Quito is without a board of directors”; “D. Quito remains in power vacuum and the crisis gets worse”, and “Three players organize the collections in Deportivo Quito”, on March 12th, 15th and 16th, respectively. The news stories referred to the financial problems “claret and blue” team is facing.
Fundamedios tried to get the side of the story of El Comercio, but it has preferred to not speak out about it.
