El Instituto de Altos Estudios Nacionales IAEN buscará identificar y sancionar “a los responsables que lesionan la imagen institucional” de ese centro de estudios del Estado. Así lo anunció esa entidad tras una resolución emitida el 6 de julio, en donde se rechazó lo que ellos consideran “afirmaciones calumniosas publicadas en medios electrónicos”. Esto después de que el portal de investigación periodística Mil Hojas hizo público el hecho de que Analía Minteguiaga, vicerrectora del IAEN y esposa del Secretario Nacional de Educación Superior, René Ramírez, percibe dos salarios que suman más de USD 8 mil, lo cual está prohibido por la Ley.
La resolución del IAEN, firmada por Diego Pérez, rector (S) y presidente del Consejo Académico, dispuso a la Dirección de Procuraduría, presentar un informe respecto a las acciones administrativas y judiciales correspondientes, a fin de identificar y sancionar a los responsables de dañar la imagen del Centro de Estudios. En ese sentido, el documento también expresó su apoyo a Minteguiaga, quien actualmente se desempeña como rectora encargada, por verse afectada tras las supuestas afirmaciones calumniosas.
Según Mil Hojas, Minteguiaga, percibe un salario de USD 5566 como vicerrectora y otro de USD 3168 como profesora. El portal afirmó que el segundo sueldo de Minteguiaga fue posible gracias a la liberación de once partidas presupuestarias, derivadas del despido de once catedráticos y citó como fuente los registros de remuneraciones de ese centro de estudios, colgados como archivos en la página del IAEN. Sin embargo, el IAEN, en un comunicado público ha asegurado que “en ningún caso y bajo ninguna circunstancia se ha pagado doble remuneración a autoridad académica o administrativa alguna”.
A esto se suman las amenazas vertidas por el Secretario Nacional de Educación Superior, a través de su cuenta de Twitter, quien fijó un plazo al político y candidato presidencial Guillermo Lasso, para que se retracte de supuestas acusaciones contra su esposa, so pena de iniciar acciones legales.
State university threatens to sanction digital media that reported on the salary of rector
The Institute for Higher National Studies IAEN will attempt to identify and sanction "those responsible for damaging the institutional image" of that State study center. This was announced by that entity after a resolution issued on 6 July rejecting what it considers "slanderous statements published by electronic media". This occurred after the investigative journalism portal Mil Hojas revealed that Analía Minteguiaga, vice-rector of the IAEN and wife of National Secretary of Higher Education, René Ramirez, receives two salaries totaling more than USD 8 thousand, which is prohibited by law.
The IAEN's resolution, signed by Diego Pérez, rector (S) and president of the Academic Council, submitted a resolution to the Prosecution Directorate so it would report on the possible administrative and judicial actions to identify and sanction those responsible for damaging the image of the Study Center. The document also expressed his support for Minteguiaga, who currently serves as acting rector, who has been affected by the alleged slanderous statements.
According to Mil Hojas Minteguiaga receives a salary of USD 5566 as vice-rector and another of USD 3168 as teacher. The portal stated that Minteguiaga's second salary was made possible by the release of eleven budget lines, derived from the dismissal of eleven professors and cited as a source the remuneration records of this study center, which are available as files on the IAEN's page. The IAEN, however, has claimed in a public statement that "in no case and under no circumstances has a double remuneration been paid to an academic or administrative authority".
This is compounded by threats made by the National Secretary of Higher Education, through his Twitter account, who set a deadline for politician and presidential candidate Guillermo Lasso to retract the alleged accusations against his wife, failing which he will initiate legal actions.
