ENGLISH VERSION La ciudadana Maryorie Vallejo fue víctima de agresiones físicas e intento de detención por pedir al presidente Rafael Correa un relleno hidráulico para su barrio, en Babahoyo, a propósito de la visita que hizo el Primer Mandatario a la zona, el 10 de mayo de 2016.
En diálogo con Fundamedios, Vallejo aseguró que al enterarse de la visita del Jefe de Estado, ella y los vecinos del lugar salieron para ser escuchados. Corrieron atrás de la caravana presidencial y cuando el Jefe de Estado finalmente se bajó, se formó un cordón de seguridad que impidió su paso. Sin embargo, Vallejo insistió con algunos funcionarios para hablar con el Presidente, pedía en voz alta un relleno hidráulico, pero en lugar de eso, la tildaron de “infiltrada enviada” y otro funcionario se acercó con la orden de que la detengan. Fue entonces cuando la agredieron.
“Un policía vino, me torció el brazo, y eso que soy una mujer bajita, delgadita y no tengo cuerpo para defenderme de la fuerza de un hombre. Me aplicó una especie de llave retorciéndome el brazo, peor que un delincuente y me agarraron con más policías, unos de un lado y otros que jalaban del otro para llevarme, pero mi barriada me defendió y no permitieron que me lleven. Aún no se cómo estoy de cuerpo entero porque los policías me jalaban por todos lados”, comentó Vallejo, quien aún está adolorida y reponiendose de los golpes que le dejaron algunos hematomas y la imposibilidad de mover su hombro y cuello.
Vallejo comentó que es una madre soltera de 36 años que trabaja en el Municipio, pero que su pedido lo hizo como ciudadana y moradora de ese sector al que hace varios años le habían prometido un relleno hidráulico. “Quiero que quede muy claro que no fui enviada por nadie, defiendo mi derecho por mi propia libertad”, enfatizó.
En un diálogo con los medios, el presidente Correa se refirió al incidente y, tras comentar que no se puede dar un relleno a esa zona, dijo lo siguiente: “Vienen ciertos dirigentes, sabíamos que había infiltrados, seguramente que el Alcalde ni conoce pero que trabaja en el municipio, una mujer que le encanta hacer escándalo etc, que el relleno y que somos los pobres, osea como somos los pobres hay que dejarles viviendo en zonas de riesgos y dar soluciones técnicas absurdas”, dijo Correa.
Estas declaraciones fueron rechazadas por Vallejo, quien aseguró que no es escandalosa, sino que su voz es alta y se lamentó que en lugar de ser escuchada como moradora del sector, le mandaron policías.

Maryorie Vallejo was victim of physical attacks and an attempted arrest when she tried to request a hydraulic fill for her neighborhood in Babahoyo to President Rafael Correa, since the head of the state was visiting that area on May 10th, 2016.
During a conversation with Fundamedios, Ms. Vallejo claimed that once she knew of the visit of the president, she and her neighbors went out to be heard. They run after the president’s motorcade and finally, when the head of the state got off the car, a security cordon was formed that impede them from going ahead. However, Ms. Vallejo insisted that they wanted to talk with the president while she was asking aloud for the hydraulic fill, but instead, she was branded “infiltrator” and a civil servant approached with an order to arrest her. At that very moment, it was when she was attacked.
“A police officer came and twisted my arm, I am a shorty and thin women and I do not have enough strength to defend myself from a man. He used a kind of hold to twist my arm, it was worse than being a criminal and then, more police officers came, some from one side and others from the other were pulling me, but my neighbors defended me and did not let them arrest me. I don’t know how my body is entire after the pulls of those police officers from all sides”, said Ms. Vallejo, who is until now in pain and getting better from being punched which resulted in some hematomas and the difficulty of moving her shoulder and neck.
Ms. Vallejo commented that she was a 36-year-old single mother who worked in the town hall, but she did her request as a citizen and a denizen of that area since many years ago, a hydraulic fill was promised. “I want to clarify that I was not sent by anyone, I defend my right for my own freedom”, emphasized.
During a press conference, President Correa referred to the issue and after saying that it cannot be given a hydraulic fill to that zone, he added: “Certain leaders come, we knew that there were infiltrators, it is very likely that even the mayor do not know them but they work in the town hall, among them, a woman who likes provoking controversy etc., yes, the hydraulic fill and that we are poor!, as we are poor, we have to leave them living in risk areas and we have to give absurd technical solutions”.
Those statements were refused by Ms. Vallejo, who claimed that she was not exaggerative, but her voice is loud and she regrets that instead of being heard as a denizen of that neighborhood, police officers were sent to arrest her.
