El 17 de mayo de 2015, Andrés Mendoza, periodista de la Agencia Popular de Comunicación Ser Públicos de Guayaquil fue amenazado de muerte a través de un mensaje de correo electrónico que llegó a la cuenta institucional de la Agencia y a su cuenta personal de Facebook.
Mendoza narró que el mensaje llegó en horas de la noche, con insultos, epítetos y la amenaza de que si no quita un video en 72 horas se irá “para el otro mundo”. En dicho mensaje se afirmaba además que saben quién es, de dónde y que no tardarán en ubicarlo. Sin embargo, Mendoza dijo desconocer los posibles autores de la amenaza y sus motivos, pues aseguró que los videos más recientes publicados se refieren a los desalojos en Isla Trinitaria en Guayaquil y a los abusos policiales cometidos recientemente por la toma del Fondo de Cesantía por parte de las autoridades de gobierno, pero que son hechos públicos y cree que no amerita intimidaciones de este tipo.
Parte del mensaje señalaba: “Te tenemos medido en todo lo que haces sabes ya nos tienes hasta la corona con tu chillona voz (…) con todo lo que haces estás cavando tu tumba perro (…) no podrás esconderte ni mucho menos huir ya te trataremos de ubicar perro (…) te lo decimos quitas esa (…) de video en 72 horas o te nos vas para el otro mundo donde reposan los maricones comunistas como tú. Solo piénsalo por tu familia pedazo de imbécil. Te preparas para para morir”.
Tras este mensaje, Mendoza denunció que en redes sociales usuarios empezaron a insultarlo e incluso uno circuló una foto de su perfil de Facebook, en donde se lo ve cocinando, mientras que otros empezaron a burlarse de la amenaza que él hizo pública en la red social. El comunicador comentó que en los dos años que funciona la Agencia, es la primera vez que recibe este tipo de amenazas y que este hecho lo tiene incómodo, por lo que pondrá su denuncia ante las autoridades para que investiguen estos hechos .
Tres días más tarde, el comunicador recibió por correo un supuesto mensaje con la foto de él, unas flores con una cruz de fondo como si se tratase de un parte mortuorio y la leyenda: “Miremos hacia adelante que su partida nos inspire a vivir la vida alegremente como lo hacía él. Andrés Mendoza Reynoso 06/06/1983- 24/05/2015”

Journalist receives several messages threatening him to death
On 17 May 2015, Andrés Mendoza, a journalist for the Popular Communication Agency Ser Públicos in Guayaquil, was threatened to death through an email that arrived at the Agency's institutional account and his personal Facebook account.
Mendoza reported that the message arrived at night and included insults, derogatory names and the threat that if he does not delete a video within 72 hours he will leave "for the other world". The message also stated that they know who he is, where he is from and that they will soon locate him. Mendoza, however, stated he did not know the possible perpetrators of the threat or their motives. He said that the latest published videos refer to evictions in Isla Trinitaria in Guayaquil and police abuses committed recently during the seizure of the Unemployment Fund by government authorities, both public events that he does not believe warrant an intimidation of this sort.
Part of the message stated: "We know everything about what you do and we are truly fed up of your shrill voice (...) you're digging your own tomb with everything you do (...) you will not be able to hide, much less flee. We will find you, dog (... ) we say you remove that (...) video within 72 hours or you'll be leaving for the other world where communist fagots like you lie. Just think about your family, you idiot! Get ready to die".
After receiving this message, Mendoza reported that social media users started to insult him and one of them even circulated a picture from his Facebook profile, where he can be seen cooking, while others laughed at the threat he made public in the social network . The journalist said that this is the first time he has received this kind of threat during the two years the Agency has been operating and that it makes him feel uncomfortable, so that he will file a complaint with the authorities requesting an investigation of the events.
Three days later, the journalist received an email with a picture supposedly of him, with flowers and a cross in the background as if it were the notice of a funeral, and the text: "Let us look towards the future, that his departure inspire us to live life as happily as he did. Andrés Mendoza Reynoso 06/06/1983- 24/05/2015”
