El 17 de septiembre, en el marco de la marcha organizada por sindicatos de trabajadores y diversas organizaciones sociales en contra de algunas políticas del gobierno, ocurrieron varios incidentes que dejaron un saldo de 47 detenidos, 15 policías heridos, un camarógrafo agredido y un ataque cibernético a la página del medio digital LaRepública.ec.
Según varios reportes de prensa, uno de los hechos más críticos ocurrió en horas de la tarde en las inmediaciones del Colegio Montúfar en Quito, en donde ocurrieron disturbios ocasionados entre manifestantes y policías. El jefe del Distrito Metropolitano, Ramiro Mantilla, confirmó a diario El Universo que inicialmente se detuvo a 74 personas, muchos de ellos estudiantes. Este mismo dato fue corroborado por la policía comunitaria de la zona, en declaraciones para diario La Hora. Sin embargo, se conoció que horas más tarde el número de detenidos se redujo tras dejar en libertad a los menores de edad.
Un segundo hecho ocurrió cuando la marcha llegó hasta el sitio de congregación en la Plaza de San Francisco, en el centro histórico de la capital. A través de las redes sociales, periodistas que cubrían la marcha y ciudadanos presentes reportaron que cerca de las 19:00 se produjeron incidentes cuando la Policía Nacional llegó al lugar con escudos y caballos para intentar cercar y de esta manera dispersar a los manifestantes. En este punto, la policía detuvo a 10 personas.
En diálogo con Fundamedios, Luis Ángel Saavedra, director de la organización de derechos humanos INREDH aseguró que al momento 47 personas permanecen detenidas a la espera de una audiencia de flagrancia que determinará qué delitos les imputan. Entre los detenidos se encuentran: Cristian Andrade, Héctor Pucha, Isaac Armas, José Pérez, Aníbal Moreno, Luis Corral, José Pinto, Gregorio Muñoz, Darwin Santafé.
Antes, cerca de las 15:30, la agencia de noticias del gobierno Andes reportó que su camarógrafo José Vargas, fue agredido físicamente por un joven , quien le arranchó su billetera para revisar la credencial del medio de comunicación. El comunicador narró que fue empujado por su agresor.
En otro hecho, el portal digital La República.ec denunció que sufrió un ataque a su página web mientras transmitía, en vivo, las marchas que se desarrollaban a favor y en contra del gobierno, ocasionando la caída del portal durante aproximadamente veinte minutos. Según el medio digital, el ataque se trató de una denegación de servicio que dejó sin recursos al servidor y ocasionó su salida temporal. La página fue restituida minutos más tarde sin que se hayan producidos nuevos inconvenientes.

On September 17th, as part of the march organized by workers and other social organizations against some government policies, several incidents occurred and 47 persons were detained, 15 policemen were injured, a cameraman was physically assaulted and the digital media outlet LaRepública.ec suffered a cyber attack.
According to several media reports, one of the most critical events occurred in the afternoon near the Montúfar School in Quito, where disturbances caused between protesters and the police. The head of the Metropolitan District, Ramiro Mantilla, told newspaper El Universo that initially 74 people, many of them students, were detained. The same information was supported by the community police in the area, speaking to newspaper La Hora. However, it was learned that hours later the number of detained persons was reduced after the release of the under-age.
A second incident occurred when the march reached the site church in the Plaza de San Francisco in the historic center of the capital. Through social media, journalists covering the march and present citizens reported around 19:00 that incidents occurred when the National Police arrived at the scene with shields and horses to try fencing and thus disperse the protesters. At this point, police arrested 10 people.

Hours before, about 15:30, the government news agency Andes reported that his cameraman Jose Vargas, was physically assaulted by a young man who would pulled away his wallet to check the credential of the media. The communicator told it was pushed by her attacker.
In another incident, the digital portal The República.ec reported that they suffered an attack on their web page while transmitting, Live, marches that were developed for and against the government, causing the fall of the portal for about twenty minutes. According to the digital media outlet, this was an attack called denial of service that left the server out of resources and caused his temporary departure. The page was restored minutes later without new problems.
