La estación radial Novedades 1100 AM, de Latacunga, fue multada con USD 3660. La Intendencia de la Información y Comunicación Zonal 3, a través de un trámite iniciado de oficio, resolvió que en el programa “Corrientes de Opinión Ciudadana” se infringió el artículo 68, numeral 1 del Reglamento General a la Ley Orgánica de Comunicación (LOC) al haber difundido más de los 15 minutos de publicidad establecidos por ley, durante la segunda y tercera hora de programa.
Durante la audiencia, el representante del medio no presentó pruebas de descargo y aceptó la infracción como un hecho involuntario. Finalmente, luego de los análisis respectivos la SUPERCOM determinó culpabilidad del medio y aplicó la sanción anteriormente expuesta.
Radio station fined for disseminating too many adverts
On 13 July 2016, radio station Novedades 1100 AM, from Latacunga, was fined USD 3,660. The Administration of Information and Communication for Zone 3, through a process initiated ex officio, ruled that the program "Corrientes de Opinión Ciudadana" infringed Article 68, paragraph 1 of the General Regulation to the Organic Communication Law (LOC) by disseminating more than the 15 minutes of advertising established by law during the second and third hours of the program.
During the hearing, the radio station's representative did not present exculpatory evidence and accepted the infringement as an involuntary act. Finally, after the respective analysis, SUPERCOM determined the media outlet's guilt and applied the sanction.
