Radio Turbo 93.9 FM de la ciudad de Guaranda deberá pagar USD 3.660 tras una sanción impuesta el 10 de junio por parte de la Intendencia Zonal 5-8 de la Información y Comunicación. La entidad consideró que el medio no difundió suficiente música producida en Ecuador durante el programa “El Manicomio”, que se transmite entre 14:00 y 17:00, del pasado 26 de abril de 2016.
Tras un proceso iniciado de oficio, la Intendencia determinó que “de las 40 canciones presentadas en el programa, apenas 4 fueron de origen nacional, equivalente a un 10 %, por debajo del 35 % de contenidos musicales mínimo requerido a la fecha de la infracción”.
El 1 de junio de 2016, durante la audiencia ante la autoridad, el representante del medio cuestionó el proceder de la Superintendencia. Sin embargo, el representante de la Intendencia recalcó que “no se presentaron alegaciones al reporte interno, lo que demuestra el incumplimiento de la cuota de música nacional en Radio Turbo”.
Radio station is fined for failing to broadcast enough national music
Radio Station Turbo 93.9 FM of the city of Guaranda, must pay USD 3,660 after it was fined on 10 June by the Information and Communication Intendency for Zones 5-8. The agency considered that the radio station did not broadcast enough music produced in Ecuador during the program "El Manicomio", transmitted between 14:00 and 17:00 on 26 April 2016.
After proceedings initiated ex officio, the Intendency determined that "of the 40 songs featured in the program, only 4 were of domestic origin, equivalent to 10% of the total, below the 35% minimum required at the time of the infringement".
On 1 June 2016, during the hearing before the authority, the media outlet's representative questioned the Superintendency's course of action. However, the Intendency's representative stressed that "no arguments against the internal report were presented, demonstrating Radio Turbo's failure to comply with the national music quota".
