El presidente Rafael Correa, durante su Enlace CIudadano N° 478 del 4 de junio, amenazó a quienes lo insulten por Twitter con retuitear esos mensajes para que sus simpatizantes los identifiquen. También advirtió que no le van a ganar la “guerra psicológica” en redes sociales.
Esta advertencia se dio tras las críticas ocurridas en redes sociales por un video oficial difundido por la Secretaría de Comunicación (SECOM) para promocionar la gestión del Presidente en la reconstrucción de las zonas afectadas por el terremoto. En la pieza audiovisual se mostraron tomas aéreas del retrato de Correa dibujado en la arena de una playa, que generó la indignación de algunos internautas.
El Jefe de Estado aseguró que ya no interactúa mucho en Twitter porque hay “cobardes” que insultan por todo y ya no saben qué decir. "Lo que voy a hacer es que cuando manden esos tuits insultantes, que deben ser de los trolls de la oposición les voy a retuitear a ustedes pidiéndoles que identifiquen quién es el autor, para ver si es tan valiente cuando se sabe quién es, dónde vive y sigue insultando. No nos vamos a dejar ganar la guerra psicológica. Somos más, muchísimos más. Reaccionemos ante los mismos de siempre que nos quieren robar hasta la alegría. Verán les retuiteo y si hay un tipo ahí con su nombre y sin mayor identificación y si insulta, les mando a ustedes. Averiguamos quién es. Sacamos es tal persona, ahí está la foto, es de tal lugar y vamos a ver si es tan machito de seguir insultando. Vamos a ver si sin anonimato tiene la valentía de decir todas las cosas que dice escondido en redes sociales. Las redes sociales pueden ser la máxima expresión de la libertad pero también pueden ser refugio de cobardes y tenemos que rechazar eso. Los buenos somos más! Prohibido olvidar!”, concluyó.
President threatens twitter users saying he will use his sympathizers to identify them
President Rafael Correa, during his 478 Saturday broadcast of 4 June, threatened those who insult him through Twitter saying he will retweet their messages so his supporters will identify them. He also warned that they will not win the "psychological warfare" in social networks.
He issued this warning after being criticized through social networks for an official video released by the Communication Secretariat (SECOM) to promote the president's management of the reconstruction of areas affected by the earthquake. The video showed aerial shots of Correa's portrait drawn in the sand of a beach, which generated outrage among some internet users.
The Head of State declared he no longer interacts much on Twitter because there are "cowards" who react to everything with insults and don't know what else to say. "What I'll do is whenever they send those insulting tweets, which must be from opposition trolls, I will retweet them to you asking you to identify who the author is, to see if they're so brave once we know who they are, where they live, and continue insulting. We will not let them win the psychological war. We are more, we are many more. Let us react against the usual suspects, who want to steal even our joy. I will respond and if there's a guy there with a name but without further identification and if he insults, I will send (his tweet) to you. We'll find out who he is. We'll say this is this person, there is his photo, he is from this place, and then we'll see if he is so brave as to continue insulting. We'll see if without anonymity he has the courage to say all the things he says while hidden in social networks. Social networks can be the ultimate expression of freedom but they can also be the refuge of cowards and we must reject that. There's more of us good people! We mustn't forget!”, he concluded.
