El programa de investigación Visión 360 de Ecuavisa transmitió bajo protesta un video de “réplica” enviado por varias autoridades de la provincia amazónica de Sucumbíos, en respuesta al reportaje titulado «Miedo en la frontera”, del pasado 26 de junio, en donde se expuso acerca de la inseguridad en esa zona fronteriza, al norte del país. El material audiovisual interrumpió el programa durante 13 minutos y medio.
El video transmitido este 10 de julio impuesto como réplica, acusó a Visión 360 de hacer “un mal uso de datos estadísticos disponibles, dando como resultado un reportaje que generó una alarma en toda la ciudadanía de la provincia de Sucumbios y el país entero”. También se acusó al medio de divulgar ofensas “que buscan hacer un programa de televisión que solo cumpla con los parámetros de una prensa puramente comercial. Y en esta ocasión para nada informativa”. En ese sentido, el video cuestionó que “para los habitantes estas informaciones faltaron el respeto y a la verdad, afectando duramente a los sectores comercial, turístico, laboral, psicológico y el sentimiento de identidad de quienes hacemos la provincia de Sucumbíos”.
Antes de emitir la réplica, Ecuavisa dejó en claro que transmitía el video bajo protesta y aseguró, entre otras cosas, que los datos y cifras mostradas en el reportaje fueron consignadas por la Fiscalía del Estado, el Ministerio del Interior y la Cancillería. También aclaró que la Alcaldesa del cantón Putumayo, quien en la réplica intenta desmentir a Ecuavisa, habló antes frente a las cámaras del canal de manera voluntaria “consciente del objeto de la entrevista”, en donde narró que fue víctima de secuestro en esa provincia. Finalmente, Ecuavisa aseguró que la réplica es un “sinsentido” porque la información del reportaje no ha sido refutada como falsa y porque en las diferentes cartas enviadas por las autoridades de Sucumbíos a Visión 360, se han ratificado en el contenido presentado por el programa, sin precisar cuáles son los errores en los que supuestamente habrían incurrido.
El pasado 19 de junio Visión 360 también difundió un video-réplica de 13 minutos a pedido de una entidad estatal, en una práctica que se ha vuelto habitual para interrumpir estos espacios e imponer contenidos oficiales.
Reply imposed by several authorities accuses investigative program of causing ‘alarm among the citizenship’
Ecuavisa’s investigative program Visión 360 broadcasted under protest a «reply» video sent by several authorities of the Amazon province of Sucumbíos, in response to the report titled «Fear on the border,» of 26 June, about the insecurity in northern Ecuador’s border area. The audiovisual material interrupted the program for 13 minutes and a half.
The video aired on 10 July, imposed as a reply, accused Visión 360 of «misusing the statistical data available, resulting in a report that generated alarm among the citizens of the province of Sucumbíos and the whole country». The TV station was also accused of disseminating offenses «they intend to make a television program that only meets the parameters of a purely commercial press. And this time it was not at all informative». The reply video stated that «for the local people this information was disrespectful and untruthful, severely affecting the commercial, tourism, labor and psychological sectors and the sense of identity of all of those of us who are part of the Sucumbíos province».
Before broadcasting the reply, Ecuavisa made clear that it was transmitting the video under protest and claimed, among other things, that the facts and figures shown in the report were recorded by the State Attorney’s Office, the Interior Ministry and the Foreign Ministry. It also clarified that the Mayor of Cantón Putumayo, who in the reply attempts to refute Ecuavisa, had spoken in a previous occasion voluntarily before the cameras «aware of the purpose of the interview«, saying that she had been the victim of a kidnapping in that province. Finally, Ecuavisa stated that the reply is «nonsense» because the information presented in the report has not been refuted as false and because the various letters sent by the authorities of Sucumbíos to Visión 360 have ratified the content presented by the program, without specifying what errors it has allegedly committed.
On 19 June Visión 360 also disseminated a 13-minute long video reply at the request of a State agency, a practice that has become common and is used to disrupt these spaces and impose official content.
